CDC Parachute Dun Mahogany
The CDC Parachute Dun Mahogany is an incredible adult dun pattern we fish throughout the fall months. It has a high, visible profile and creates great movement on breezy afternoons.
Fly Pattern Details
The cripple style profile is a solid option when you're competing with the hatch—when there are so many naturals on the water that fish become selective. At certain times, trout will focus their attention on insects that are vulnerable, knocked down, in a between-phase of emergence and/or stuck in the surface tension. These are times when fishing the cripple becomes a great option.
The Tying Recipe
- Hook: Daiichi 1180 or Tiemco 100/100BL (size 14-16)
- Thread: Rusty or Mahogany 8/0 UNI-Thread (or Veevus 10/0)
- Tail: Dun Micro Fibbetts (4)
- Abdomen: Nature's Spirit Stripped Goose Biots (Mahogany or Rusty)
- Thorax: Nature's Spirit Fine Natural Dubbing (Rusty or Mahogany)
- Wing: Natural Dark Dun CDC
- Parachute: Dun Para Post
