The CDC Biot Emerger is probably one of our most versatile patterns we use throughout the Mahogany hatch. It represents a key vulnerability phase of the mayfly lifecycle and fishes well when trout are selective on emerging insects.

The Tying Recipe

  • Hook: Daiichi 1180 or Tiemco 100/100BL (size 14-16)
  • Thread: Rusty or Mahogany 8/0 UNI-Thread (or Veevus 10/0)
  • Tail: 4-6 Lemon Wood Duck Fibers
  • Abdomen: Nature's Spirit Stripped Goose Biots (Dark Olive)
  • Thorax: Nature's Spirit Fine Natural Dubbing (Rusty or Mahogany)
  • Wing: Natural Dark Dun CDC
  • Collar: 6-8 Dark Olive Turkey Flat Fibers
