Fly Pattern & Fishing Details
The CDC Biot Dun is an effective dry fly pattern when fish are keyed in and feeding repetitively on adult surface duns. This is a classic sailboat style pattern we fish through the thick of the main hatch. They're easy to see from long distances, right like naturals and are productive on all types of water—from Silver Creek to the South Fork of the Boise River and beyond.
The Tying Recipe
- Hook: Daiichi 1180 or Tiemco 100/100BL (size 18-24)
- Thread: Dark Natural Dun 8/0 UNI-Thread or Veevus 10/0
- Tail: 4 Split Micro Fibbett Fibers (Dun-Colored)
- Abdomen: Nature's Spirit Stripped Goose Biots (Olive or Dark Olive)
- Thorax: Nature's Spirit Fine Natural Dubbing in Olive
- Wing: Natural Dark Dun CDC
- Legs: 6-8 Gray Para Post Fibers
